Mawlamyine
HELLO! Been a while since I wrote again, over a week I see now! Been moving around a bit since Dawei, but will back up a bit for you now :) After a week in Dawei I moved on to the capital of Mon state - the colonial city of Mawlamyine! A city where you can really see its trace back to when the British were here, I also found out that the famous author George Orwell lived here for years and worked as a police officer.. Huh! I went here early on Friday morning, hugging my lovely Yellow goodbye and jumped in to the bus where I met two lovely older ladies from Australia.
They have backpacked for years back and forth and are doing Burma in a month like me, so when we arrived to Mawlamyine we ended up checking in to a triple room together! We spent two days together in this city, walking around the small streets to watch the amazing architecture, meeting locals and seeing pagodas. We had lunch in a monastery with a monk who is also a part of NLD in Mon state (Aung San Sui Kyis party) which was really interesting as well! A post with loads of pictures from Mawlamyine will appear soon, here below are the three of us anyway! Such lovely ladies :)
