Travel with Tillan

Hola mis amigos! Nu är vi äntligen i djungelstaden Iquitos i Peru efter en veckas konstant resande! Det är sant, sen vi lämnade Vilcabamba i lördags har vi rest konstant tills nu! Vi har valt att resa en mer oturistig rutt vilket betyder att resorna blir billigare men också längre och med fler byten. Det finns två gränsövergångar mellan Ecuador och Peru, en vid kusten som är den vanligaste för backpackers att ta och sedan finns det en mindre gränsövergång i djungeln som heter La Balsa - den valde vi! Det tog oss runt tre timmar att korsa den här gränsen då Kate hade stannat över visumtiden med två dagar (man har max 90 dagar i varje land), men efter att muta de med 10 dollar och massa prat så kom vi till slut vidare! Vi åkte då till San Ignacio där vi spenderade första natten. Tidigt morgonen efter tog vi en taxi till en stad i närheten som hade bankomat, efter det tog vi en nattbuss till Tarapoto där vi direkt bytte till en annan buss som skulle ta oss sex timmar, dock tog den bussresan totalt runt 12 timmar då vi fastnade uppe i bergen på grund av bergras! Men efter många om och men kom vi ÄNTLIGEN fram till staden Yurimaguas, staden där båtarna avgår från! Vi stannade där en natt och morgonen efter hoppade vi på båten och hade då tre dagar framför oss på den i våra hängmattor. Hola mis amigos! Now we've finally arrived in tje jungle city Iquitos in Peru after one week of constant travel! It's true, since we left Vilcabamba last Saturday we've traveled constantly until today! We chose to travel a less touristy route which means the trips become cheaper but also longer and a lot more switches between buses! There are two borders between Peru and Ecuador, one by the coast that is the most common one for backpackers to take and then there is a smaller one in the jungle called La Balsa - that's the one we went through! It took us about three hours to just cross the border since Kate had stayed over her visa time in Ecuador with two days (you have 90 days in each country), but after a lot of talking and bribing with 10 dollars they finally let us pass! We went straight to a city nearby called San Ignacio which (according to Lonely Planet) was the best city to stay over night near the border. Early the next day we took a taxi to a town nearby to find ATM and then we took a night bus to Tarapoto where we directly switched to another bus that was going to take six hours, though we got stuck in the mountains for a long time since there had been a rock fall. But after about twelwe hours we finally arrived in the city Yurimaguas, which is the city where the boats leave from! We stayed there one night and the day after we got on one of the boats and had three days ahead of us on it with our hammocks. Framme i staden San Ignacio vilket (enligt Lonely Planet) är den bästa staden att spendera natten på nära djungelgränsövergången i Peru, så vi åkte dit! Det var en väldigt oturistig stad, alla stirrade på oss som att vi var cirkusapor och det var svårt att hitta hostel! Till slut lyckades vi i alla fall och spenderade då resten av kvällen med att försöka växla till oss soles (Perus valuta) då vi bara hade dollar från Ecuador och bankomater fanns inte. Efter många om och men lyckades vi fixa nog med pengar så vi kunde köpa lite gatumat och sedan gå och lägga oss på vårt lilla rum.

In the city San Ignacio which is (according to Lonely Planet) the best city to spend the night in this close to this border in Peru, so we went there! It was a very non touristy place, people there were staring at us like we were circus monkeys' and it was difficult to find an hostel. In the end we found one and spend the rest of the night trying to exchange our money in to soles (the Peruian currency) since we only had dollars from Ecuador and there were no ATMs. After a long hazzle we managed to exchange enough money to buy some street food and then go to bed in our little room! 

Efter en lång och jobbig bussresa kom vi ÄNTLIGEN fram till Yurimaguas (staden där bussarna genom Amazonas avgår från), då checkade vi in på första hostelet vi kunde hitta och tog varsin lång dusch! Sedan gick vi ner till hamnen att finna en bra båt som skulle ta oss till djungelstaden Iquitos, vi fann båten inom en timme och gick då direkt tillbaka till rummet med massa mat och såg på film resten av kvällen - helt slut! Dagen efter gick vi upp tidigt för att packa ihop grejerna, gick ner till marknaden för att köpa oss varsin hängmatta för att ha något att sova i under de här tre dagarna till Iquitos och sedan gick vi ombord!

After a long and rough bus trip we FINALLY arrived in Yurimaguas (the city from where the boats leave), we checked in to the first hostel we found and took a long shower. Then we walked down to the harbour and tried to find a boat to Iquitos, we found one within an hour and went straight back to our room after that with loads of food and watched movies for the rest of the night - we were so tired! Early the next day we packed our things, went to the market to buy hammocks so we would have something to sleep in during these three days and then we got on the boat!  
Dags att hoppa på båten, egentligen går man ombord från en enorm hamn med hundratals olika båtar men här är en båt som åkte förbi oss på första eller andra dagen som såg likadan ut som våran - så ni förstår hur båtarna ser ut!

Time to get on the boat, we actually boarded from this massive harbour with hundreds of different boats but this boat passed us on the first or second day and it's the same kind of boat that we are on - so you can see how they look like!
