Yangon → Dawei
Hey guys! Haven't seen any internet cafe since I left Yangon almos a week ago, but now I found some! Thought I should back up a while and write a few posts on what I've been up to lately, have had the most amazing time traveling along the coast of south Myanmar! So last Tuesday I left Yangon for the bus station to go to Dawei, a city that has only been open for foreigners for two years because of political problems. I was feeling sick this day so I was more or less dragging myself to the taxi and fell asleep while he was taking me to the bus (in the middle of the day). I think I must have ate something strange because I was feeling really bad in my stomach.
When I arrived at the bus stop I met an Italian man by name Romeo who helped me get some fruits and carried my bag on to the bus for me, really nice! We started talking and it turned out he had traveled in India a year too, but 20 years ago (he is 47 now)! Anyway, when on the bus I passed out right away and slept for the first 2-3 hours, then I started feeling better. I noticed there was a girl next to me on the bus who spoke English (she was from Dawei, she is 24 years old) so we started talking and she was so nice, told me to call her Yellow 'like the sun' :) She told me about the political situation in Myanmar right now and we spoke of the discrimination against the rohingyas here. She helped me and Romeo to find a guest house when we arrived at Dawei and we had dinner later as well :) In Dawei me and Romeo rent mopeds and cruised along empty beaches for three days, it was like a dream! More about that in the next post :)
