Myeik
Mingalaba! I'm completely in love the south part of Myanmar - the beauty combined with these amazing people have completely blown me away :) Time flies here, already been in Myanmar for almost two weeks!! Anyway, I need to back up a bit since I haven't written anything in almost a week! Last Friday me and Romeo left Dawei to go to the southern city Myeik - it's a place very known for its 800 islands that is suppose to have some of the most beautiful diving and snorkling sites! I've been planning to go there all along, and Romeo had to go down there anyway to cross over the border to Thailand so we decided to go there together!
We arrived there on Friday afternoon and realized pretty quickly that it would be a lot more complicated than we thought to visit some of the islands - either you need to pay 130 dollars for a private speedboat (you and three more people is minimum) and then they will take you to two different islands for a whole day, or you can catch the Sunday boat for 50 dollars, which is a big boat with 200 passengers that goes to one island that has a beautiful beach for a whole day. I was way more keen to catch a speedboat and explore more, but the two other backpackers we found at our hostel didn't want to pay that much money so we decided to take the Sunday boat instead! Here are some photos from the city Myiek, posts about our boat ride and more about Myeik will appear here soon!
There are some vegetarian meals here that are really good, the problem is to learn how to ask for it! After a few days I moved on from the constant fried rice and noodles to meals that look more like this :)
