Local buses in Yangon
For my first days here in Yangon, I've been using either taxi or walking to get to places but since I live a bit outside the main center I decided to start taking the bus instead. Instead of having to pay about 3000 Kyat (about 2,5 dollars) every time, you pay about 200 Mayk for the bus (30 cents). The downside of it is that it takes about four times longer to get where you're going, but it's a lot nicer experience to go on the bus rather than taking a taxi! Speaking of the Myanmar traffic - I noticed something really strange when I arrived here and got picked up by a taxi. I realized that even though they all drive cars that are meant to drive on the left side of the road (the driver seat is on the right side of the car) they still drive on the right side...?! I read online now that apparently they changed it overnight in 1970 to drive on the right side. I can see that it's a way for them to show that Myanmar (there of also the change of name from Burma back to Myanmar) want to show independence from the British, but it's very unsafe for them to drive like this.. Many taxi drivers have complained to me about this matter, they're all like: "yeah well, we can't really see where we're driving when we want to make a turn..." Crazy!

As usually in this part of the world I am way too long for the local transports..
